Wow! 4 hours on the bus some crazy number of bends in the road and some amazing views! I've finally made it to Pai, it was first recommended to me by a Scottish lady as we left Koh Jum and then again when we met Frank and Andy in Bangkok and so far i cant say im dissappointed :oD its very small but has a great atmosphere, it didnt take me long to find Frank, he was looking after his friends bar whilst she was out to dinner with freinds 'Almost Famous'. We only have 4 days here until we plan to head into Laos and im already thinking its not long enough!
The 7 of us ended up staying at 'the Golden Huts' a small guest house by the river, we seem to have hit the jack-pot and landed a triple (for the boys) and a double (for the girls) with our own bath room, ping-pong table and seating area and all for 100B a night! SWEET!
It didnt take us long to figure out that to see anything we were gonna have to rent mo-peds :oD so on our second day we all headed out to see the sight. The Hot springs were pretty cool, all natural, there were even locals up there boiling eggs for lunch! What wasnt so cool was the fact that locals pay 30B to get in and Westeners (Farang) pay 200B!! Ha ho , such is life!
Day 3 and we heading out to see a few of the waterfalls in the area, the main waterfall is pretty cool, massive and conveniently has a rock formation that you can slide down and land in the water at the bottom :o) as you can imagine the boys took full advantage of this, i think darren even tore his shorts!
Its the 19th and cooper is leaving today, hes decided to head back to Chiang Mai and go Trekking (he didnt get chance when we were there) we are planning to meet up again in Laos so will see him in a few days. The boys are all leaving tomorrow, me and Maartja are going to stay for a few more days as our visas still have a little longer on them :o)
The same day the boy left Me and Maartja took a one day Yoga course. Bad timing really as we wanted to spend the day with them, but we chilled out at the guest house with them before they left and all went out for a very rushed dinner before their 8.pm bus, in the end we didnt get to say bye properly they all went to get sorted for the bus and by time we got there they had had to leave, apparently Sam only just got on the bus!
Felt a bit odd just the two of us but, well, we were'nt on our own for very long, after meeting up with Frank and Andy at Almost Famous we were treated to a side of Pai that we hadnt seen when we were with the boys, different bars, new people and lots of locals! Apparently Almost famous is the place to start your evening, then on to Shanon's, Be-bop and finally Bamboo!! :oD
Ok, so im supposed to be heading into Laos in time for the end on my visa on May 24th but i really love it here and dont wanna leave so have decided to head down to Chiang Mai and extend my visa. Luckly before we left home i applied for a 2month visa which can be extended by 1 month once you are in the country, so thats what im gonna do :o)
I arranged to meet Carly and Sarah in Chiang Mai on the 23rd so i spent a couple more days in Pai, came second in the pub quiz with Frank, Andy, James and Toby and chilled at the pool. Coop didnt seem to surprised that i had decided to stay in Pai, not sure when i will see him again but its all worked out fine, we are each on our own route now.... just have to see where i end up and who i end up with :oD
